Manic Monday

Back to work Monday and I'm exhausted all day at work. I even ate healthy and drank lots of water but I was still fighting to keep my eyes open. I got some work done and I got some personal stuff done as well. Larry was named Ohio Girls Track Coach of the Year and will be recognized at a dinner in Columbus this weekend. He is very proud and I am waiting for them to put his name on the school's board outside so I can take a photo.

It is late and I am off to bed now...more later.

Flashing Lights

Tuesday afternoon, I saw a strobe light flashing in my right eye. It continued for the rest of the day so I called the eye doctor who asked me to come in right away. This turns out to be the problem, in case this ever happens to you. I copied it off the web:

What Causes Flashing Lights?The vitreous sometimes pulls on the retina. This may cause you to see flashing lights or lightning streaks, even though there aren’t any such lights present. This is the same thing that occurs when you get hit in the eye and “see stars” or when you rub your eye. When the vitreous separates from the retina, you may see flashing lights once in a while, for a few weeks.

How Do I Know If The Flashing Lights Are Signs Of A Problem?Most of the time the vitreous separates from the retina without causing any symptoms. Sometimes, however, there is a sudden occurrence of flashing lights with many new floaters or even with a blacking out of part of the field of vision. If this happens, you should see your ophthalmologist right away to find out if you have a retinal tear or retinal detachment

Had a bad day...routine night

Yeah, that song runs through my mind today. Timmy was up about 5 times last night for no apparent reason other than losing his pacifier. When I awoke, I was exhausted and I fed him at 5:15. Then, I went back to sleep for a few minutes -- big mistake. I usually leave the house at 6:30am and I woke up at 6:50. Yikes! I got TK together and made it up to the daycare by 7:15. I'm out of windshield fluid and trying to wait for the melted snowflakes on my windshield before hitting my wipers. Next, my gas light comes on, darn it, have to stop cuz I won't make it all the way to work. I stop at the Sunoco when I realize that I left my wallet in the diaper bag over the weekend so I scrounge up 4 bucks for gas and I go into pay the woman. "Have a nice day" she says as nt socks get wet in the slushy snow. So now, I am an hour late for work, have no lunch, no cash and no ATM card.

Work is warm and my projects go well. My friend Jen lends me $20 to get lunch as gas for the drive home. I am happy because I know my crock pot pot roast is cooking as I drive home from work. I call Rachel to make sure she is doing alright with Carmen and pick up TK from daycare. Onward to home where I hop on the treadmill for 30 minutes watching Dr. Phil while TK watches me and Dr. Phil from the bouncy seat. Off the treadmill at 6, Larry's home for crockpot dinner and I am in the shower. Let me hair towel dry and finally sit down around 7 to feed TK and watch TV.

Larry watched 24 and I watch Supernanny (I'm trying to glean some tips from her) and head up to computer room to check in with the world. Now it is 10 and I am off to bed. A crappy morning turned into a nice, routine night.

Doctor, Doctor

It is a new year and my advice is that if you have been doing of lot of work trying to please others, it is now time to please yourself--which means taking care of yourself. If you have a doctor's appointment that you were supposed to follow up on (and you know who you are) , do it. Do it now. It only takes a minute to make an appt. and you can go to the doctor during a break at work or on a Friday when work is slow. I myself, am finally going to get myself to the dentist and the eye doctor very soon. If it is one thing you can take an proactive role in, it is your health.

Timmy

Timm's 4 month check up was today and he is just over 15 lbs. Doctor Jennings said he can start solid foods now. How exciting! We cannot wait to see him start experiening new foods. I have a feeling the end of clean clothes is upon us.

MLK

I have nothing to say about MLK Day except that I wish that I had it off of work.

I am back to work after my BG Girls weekend at the Lake House. I had a nice time relaxing with my friends and laughing a lot. We always have a good time when we are together and I appreciate having each of them to hang out with.

Strange Days Indeed

So much happening...my favorite uncle, Uncle Bruce passed away on Saturday and since then, a string of events both good and bad have followed...First Uncle Bruce was a wonderful, loving uncle who cared for each and every one he talked to. My friend Nicole feels the need to pay respect to him because he always talked to her when he saw her and asked her questions, he was genuinely interested. These days will be hard for his family and the rest of the family as well. Hopefully, we all can be as he was, at peace with life.

Heather found out she was having a girl for sure...Laurie told the family she was expecting her third child, Rachel delivered a baby girl on January 8th, then Val/Nicole/Ray's "Gram" passed away on the same day the baby was born. Just a lot of news to absorb and a lot of adjustments to be made by all.

As John Lennon said, "Strange Days, Indeed".

New Year

Well, it is a new year, but it doesn't feel so good so far. Many of my friends and family members are facing health challenges at this time. Sometimes we guilty about being happy when others are not, but it is a constand cycle for all of us as life goes on. Spring is in the near future (well, it is the next season) so hopefully it will bring better weather and happier spirits.

Larry and I are trudging through each day and keeping our fingers crossed for a mild winter this year (and every year). TK is 4 months old now and doing very well. He sits up with support and laughs alot. We started giving him a teaspoon of rice cereal in his formula on 1/1/07 and the two nights we have done it, he has slept longer in the morning.

My friend Valerie was home for Christmas and I just wished we could have seen more of her, though, I understand that she has to see her inlaws and it is hard to run around when you have your kids and husband here too. Val, hope you are settled back in Florida with everything, we wish you were here all the time.

MLK weekend, I am joining my college friends at Laurie's Lake House in Willard, Ohio. Gwen is flying in from Chicago to join us. It will be a weekend of female bonding, games and food. I am really looking forward to it.
